Las Vegas Mix gomphrena is a certified 'Flameproof Plant,' named by the Dallas Arboretum for top performance in extreme heat, and has been designated 'Best of the Best' by the nationally acclaimed Trial Gardens at the University of Georgia.
Many dozens of brightly-colored globes dance on 18 in. stems from July to September. The showy flower bracts appear in shades of electric plum, light pink, and pure white and cover the 18 to 20 in. wide mounds.
Gomphrena attracts butterflies and hummingbirds, and makes long lasting fresh cut flowers which retain their color when dried. Las Vegas Mix brings a light and airy quality to your garden and blends well with bold annual flowers like zinnias, petunias, and marigolds. Grow in containers and sunny borders.
Growing Las Vegas Mix Gomphrena Seeds
Plant Gomphrena Seeds: Sow gomphrena seed in cell packs or flats, lightly cover with soil. Needs light to germinate. Kept at 60-70°F.; seeds germinate erratically over a period of 7-21 days. Transplant gomphrena seedlings into the garden 12-18 in. apart.
Grow Gomphrena: Easily grown in any well-drained soil, likes hot full sun, blooms prolifically. Tolerates dry weather and some light frost. Water gomphrena moderately; do not overwater.
