Colorado State University flower trials awarded BeeBright Red Improved pentas Best In Class for uniformity, intense color, heat tolerance and for being pollinator friendly. Low, dense mounds of ribbed, bright green leaves grow 6-8 in. tall and 12-14 in wide. Large 3-4 in. clusters of showy, deep red, star-shaped flowers begin blooming in mid spring and continue to develop through summer. Pentas are favorites of many types of butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. Perennials in zones 10 and 11, BeeBright Red Improved pentas are typically grown as annuals.
Growing BeeBright Red Improved Pentas Seeds
Sow pentas seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil and cover lightly. Keep consistently moist. Kept at 70-75°F., seeds germinate in 7-14 days.
