Slender yet strong, branching stems hold multiple ruffled, velvety red flowers with dark brown centers. Plants are more colorful, flowers a bit smaller, when compared to other sunflowers. Red Wave sunflowers grow 3 to 4 feet tall, branch early and often, make showy seasonal accents or hedges. The pollen-free flowers are outstanding additions to cut flower bouquets.
Growing Red Wave Sunflower Seeds
Plant Sunflower Seeds: Direct sow into prepared seed beds 3 in. apart, thin to 6-9 in. apart. Easy to start indoors in 2 in. pots or cell packs.
Grow Sunflowers: Sunflowers require full sun. Soil which is moist and moderately fertile will produce the best flower heads. Blooms attract bees, birds and butterflies.
