A well-balanced mix of the four Soluna series colors: Bronze, Cream, Gold, and Lemon, all with dark brown central discs. Soluna Mix sunflower is a member of a different sunflower species from most commonly grown sunflowers: Helianthus debilis, which is native to coastal regions of the Southeastern United States. Tender perennial plants have a more delicate, fine-textured look that adds nice contrast with other sunflowers in the garden and in fresh cut bouquets. Soluna Mix sunflowers produce pollen that attracts bees and other pollinators. Bushy, multi-branching 4 ft. tall plants tolerate heat, humidity, drought, saline soil and coastal salt spray They bloom heavily all summer with petite 3 in. flowers in warm, summery colors. Soluna Mix sunflower is a tender perennial sunflower, winter hardy to zone 8, that may be grown as an annual anywhere.
Growing Soluna Mix Sunflower Seeds
Tall Sunflowers: Direct sow into prepared seed beds after all danger of frost. Plant seeds 6 in. apart, ½ in. deep. Thin to 1-1½ ft. apart. Can start plants early indoors in 2 in. pots or cell packs. Transplant into the garden well before seedlings become root bound.
Dwarf Sunflowers: Direct sow into prepared seed beds 3 in. apart, thin to 6-9 in. apart. Easy to start indoors in 2 in. pots or cell packs.
Grow Sunflowers: Sunflowers require full sun. Soil which is moist and moderately fertile will produce the best flower heads. Blooms attract bees, birds and butterflies.
