Unlike other coreopsis, American Dream grows best in mild climates. In warm climates afternoon shade is preferred. Needs regular water. Spreading, 18-24 in. tall plants are blanketed in rosy-pink, yellow centered 1 in. single daisies all summer. American Dream coreopsis blooms the first year when started early. Use at the front of the border, or in containers. Winter hardy to zone 4.
Growing American Dream Coreopsis Seeds
Plant Coreopsis Seeds: Sow coreopsis seeds in cell packs or flats, press into soil but do not cover. Needs light to germinate. Kept at 65° F., germination is in 21-30 days. Transplant into the garden 1-1.5 ft. apart.
Grow Coreopsis: Full Sun. Rising Sun, Sterntaler, Sunburst, and Sun Up coreopsis are heat and humidity tolerant, and will thrive with moderate to little water. American Dream coreopsis likes mild summer temperatures, afternoon shade in warm climates and moist, even wet soil. Coreopsis require little maintenance, and are rabbit and deer resistant. Shear plants back occasionally to promote continuous flowering. Coreopsis flowers attract bees, birds, and butterflies.
