Golden-yellow, 2 in. flowers present a bright-burgundy bullseye. Early-blooming, heavy-flowering, compact plants are both heat and drought tolerant. Sunfire coreopsis is a rewarding, easy to grow perennial. Blooms first summer from seed, continues to flower until frost. Plants grow 16-20 in. high, 2 ft. wide. Winter hardy to zone 4. Sunfire coreopsis is a Fleuroselect Quality Mark winner.
Growing Sunfire Coreopsis Seeds
Plant Coreopsis Seeds: Sow coreopsis seeds in cell packs or flats, press into soil but do not cover. Needs light to germinate. Kept at 65° F., germination is in 21-30 days. Transplant into the garden 1-1.5 ft. apart.
Grow Coreopsis: Full Sun. Rising Sun, Sterntaler, Sunburst, and Sun Up coreopsis are heat and humidity tolerant, and will thrive with moderate to little water. American Dream coreopsis likes mild summer temperatures, afternoon shade in warm climates and moist, even wet soil. Coreopsis require little maintenance, and are rabbit and deer resistant. Shear plants back occasionally to promote continuous flowering. Coreopsis flowers attract bees, birds, and butterflies.
