Grenadin Mix carnation is a formulated blend of highly fragrant flowers in shades of dark red, scarlet, golden-yellow, white and rose.
Grenadin Mix carnations freely produce large double, wonderfully fragrant flowers on long, stiff stems. Blooms attract butterflies and make superb cut flowers. Flowers appear in flushes throughout summer and into fall. Bushy, base-branching plants with grassy, blue-gray leaves grow to 20-24 in. tall and require little or no support.
Grenadin Mix carnations are biennials or short-lived perennials which can be grown as annuals when started early indoors. Best performance is in areas with mild summer weather. Winter hardy to zone 4. Packet is ½ gram, about 250 seeds.
Growing Grenadin Mix Dianthus Seeds
Sow dianthus seeds in cell packs or flats, press into soil and lightly cover. Kept at 65-70°F., germination is in 1-2 weeks. Transplant seedlings into the garden 12-18 in. apart.
