Mesa Peach
Gaillardia Seeds
Mesa Peach gaillardia produces scads of brilliant 3 in. wide, golden-yellow and peach-orange bicolor flowers the first season. The 14-16 in. tall plants are vigorous, upright growing and well-branched with excellent heat and drought tolerance. Bloom begins in early summer and continues well into the fall. Winter hardy to zone 5.
Growing Mesa Peach Gaillardia Seeds
Plant Gaillardia Seeds: Sow Mesa series gaillaria seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil and barely cover. Light aids germination. Kept at 70° F., germination is in 14-21 days. Can direct sow into prepared seed beds, in groups of 3-4 seeds, spaced 18 to 24 in. apart. Thin seedlings to the strongest plant.
Grow Gaillardia: Mesa series gaillardias flower stronger and longer in full sun with moderate water. Plants are tough: they are heat and drought tolerant, and rabbit and deer resistant. Mesa gaillardias are first-year flowering perennials - they bloom continuously from early summer until frost. Plants do not require deadheading to continue to flower; will grow fuller and live longer when old blooms are removed. Flowers attract bees and butterflies. Mesa series gaillardias are among the easiest to grow perennial flowers.
