Giant Sacaton is a deciduous, hardy perennial grass that creates large, arching 6 ft. tall and 5 ft. wide clumps of graceful, fine-textured green foliage. Decorative, silvery-green feathery plumes turn a pleasing silvery tan color in fall and winter, and are great for large-scale cut flower arrangements. Giant Sacaton tolerates high heat, drought, and saline (alkaline) soil, and is winter hardy to zone 5.
Growing Giant Sacaton Ornamental Grass Seeds
Sow ornamental grass seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil but do not cover. Needs light to germinate. Kept at 65-75° F., germination is in 7-35 days, depending on the variety.
