Stokesia Seeds
A choice 2 ft. tall hardy perennial which produces lovely bright blue, 3-4 in. flowers from midsummer until early fall. Butterflies love them and they make long-lasting cut flowers. Looks great at the front of borders, in cutting gardens, or in containers. Winter hardy to zone 5. Blue Star stokesia grows beautifully with Astra White Balloon Flower and Sterntaler Coreopsis.
Growing Blue Star Stokesia Seeds
Plant Stokesia Seeds: Sow seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil and barely cover. Kept at 70° F., germination is in 14-35 days. Transplant into the garden 15-18 in. apart.
Grow Stokesia: Easy germination, most seedlings appear within 2-3 weeks, germination continues up to 5 weeks. Will show some flowers first year when started early. Much heavier bloom second season. Flowers excellent for cutting. Full sun, part shade in hot climates. Regular water. Widely adapted. Evergreen in warm climates, semi-evergreen in cold winter areas. Plants resist rabbits and deer. Flowers attract butterflies.
