White Star
Stokesia Seeds
a.k.a. Stokes’ Aster
Stokesia laevis f. alba
White Star stokesia is a hardy, heat and drought tolerant perennial with large and showy 3-4 in. bright white, lacy aster-like flowers blushed with soft pink. Slender, dark green leaves make 2 ft. semi-evergreen clumps that begin to bloom mid summer, continuing into fall. Butterflies and other pollinating insects love White Star stokesia. Each bloom lasts a long time on the plant and in the vase as a fresh cut flower. Removing spent flowers will extend the bloom season, however, birds love to eat stokesia seeds. Winter hardy to zone 5.
