Stately 3-4 ft. spires are elegantly clothed in soft white flowers with a hint of yellow in the center. Snow Maiden verbascum provides a cool contrast to hot summer colors, and also adds vertical interest to mixed perennial borders. Vigorous and carefree hybrid plants produce 18 in. wide rosettes of felted silvery-green leaves that support multiple summer flower spikes without needing to be staked. Snow Maiden verbascum self-sows without being a nuisance. A biennial or short-lived perennial, winter hardy to zone 5.
Growing Snow Maiden Verbascum Seeds
Plant Verbascum Seeds: Sow seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil, do not cover. Needs light to germinate. Kept at 65-70° F., germination is in 14-30 days. Transplant 1½ ft. apart.
Grow Verbascum: Full sun, Katie's Candles Mix prefers afternoon shade in warm climates. Any soil with excellent drainage. Tolerates drought, better bloom with moderate to average water. Flowers are excellent for cutting, attract bees and butterflies. Remove old flowers for bloom over remarkably long season. Rabbit and deer resistant.
