An All-America Selections Award Winner. Aji Rico is an exceptionally vigorous hybrid derived from the South American species, Capsicum baccatum. Fruit grows to 3-4 in. long and 1½ in. wide, and are super crunchy eaten raw. Aji Rico peppers dry nicely, and lend a mildly spicy, citrus-like flavor to salsas. Large indeterminate plants grow 30 to 36 in. tall and spread slightly wider. Each prolific plant can produce 50-75 peppers.
Growing Aji Rico Hybrid Hot Pepper Seeds
Sow hot pepper seeds indoors in cell packs or flats, 8 weeks before the last anticipated frost. At 70-90°F., germination is in 8-25 days. When the soil has warmed to at least 60°F., transplant into the garden 18-24 in. apart.
