Silky tresses of silvery-cream plumes in August and September, turn to gold shades in the fall. Early Hybrids miscanthus is an excellent to use for screens: tolerates moist soil, and repels deer. Plants grows 7-7.5 ft. tall, are winter hardy to zone 4.
Plant Early Hybrids Miscanthus Seeds: Sow seeds in cell packs or flats, press into soil — do not cover. Light aids germination. Keep soil evenly moist. Kept at 62-72° F., germination is in 7 to 22 days. For best results, transplant seedlings into 4 inch pots and place under lights, in a sunny window, or in a protected position outdoors. Once seedlings have rooted, place your Early Hybrids Miscanthus into the garden 2 to 3 feet apart. Can direct sow in groups of 3 seeds, spaced 24 to 36 inches apart.
